AGILTY TRIAL FEB. 18&19, 2006

The OTCPBC Agility Trial was held at the Davie Rodeo Arena on Feb. 18 and 19 this year and it was a big success. Everyone loved the facility. Our judges, Joanne Killeen, from Pinellas Park ,FL, and Pam Cumming from Zephyr Hills,,FL, had great courses for us. We ran two rings this year for the first time. It was especially challenging for Katie Sundmacher, our volunteer coordinator, to get enough helpers for each ring. She did a great job.

The weather was perfect and everything ran smoothly thanks to all of the people who stepped forward to help out. Marybeth Hight was our trial secretary and she did a marvelous job for her first time out. She had all of the competitors’ running orders set up almost perfectly. There were very few changes at the gates. The gate stewards and contestants all appreciated that, no conflicts. The scores were entered and posted quickly thanks to my daughter, Tracy Neighbarger, who did the data entry work during the trial.

Deb Greenberg and her two sisters were in charge of all of the food for the show. They made lasagna roll ups and homemade meatballs, sausage and peppers, spinach salad, fresh roasted turkey and ham for sandwiches. It was outstanding. Plus, Joan Bruno brought yummy desserts and deviled eggs. Lori Fausett did a beautiful job on the raffle. She had lovely baskets with wonderful surprises in each for the winners.

Mirabelle Wrist set up the judges’ dinner at the Tropical Acres Steak House in Davie. It was very good. We highly recommend it. She also opened our show on Sat by singing the National Anthem. Kay Wheeler played the National Anthem on her saxophone on Sunday and it was terrific. Who knew we had such talented club members. Charlotte Czerman did the awards for the show and ran the table both days. We really appreciated that since she doesn’t do agility. Maybe we can convince her to cross over.

Michael Lewin helped Pinnacle Wood set up the courses and was our course building coordinator. We change the ring set ups 3 times a day in agility for each ring. I also wanted to thank my level 3 students, Gary and,Vicki Keidel , Lorene and Matt Taylor, Sharon Smith and Patti Roberts (not a student yet but we are hoping). Thanks to Maite Dezendorf, Jane Craig, Judy Streisand, Ann Levy Peggy Leach, Carolyn Schneider and to all of the volunteers if I failed to mention your names.

Randy Reed was our Volunteer Measuring Official from AKC who did the pre show height verifications. We really appreciated that. He liked our new official measuring device and it worked perfectly. We are looking forward to our next show in 2007 and are considering the Davie Arena again.
